It seems to be a hot min since we updated everyone!

Hmmmmm... where to start???

Eye's: Cory had surgery to remove the oil from both eyes and it went very well. The Retina's are staying attached and that is simply amazing. However since the oil is toxic to the Cornea's it clouded over once the oil was removed due to it working so hard now, which makes it harder to see. He also has a air bubble that will go away on its own in a week or so. The Cornea may or may not clear up. If not its probable he will need a Cornea transplant on that side as well. His Left eye he has NO vision in the top half, think censor bar. This will not go away because it is scar tissue on the ocular nerve. There isn't anything they can do to fix that. The next procedure will be the Hughes eye lid repair on the left eye. It will continue to stay closed for another 4-6 weeks. Then he shouldn't have to have his lid sutured shut anymore! Next after that heals will be his Cornea transplant/s. After that heals he will then have lens transplants. Once healed from that he can then get contacts! Isn't it funny how his right eye went from the one with the least amount of hope to the best amount of hope! Crazy how things change around here.

Ear's: Cory ended up missing his right ear surgery because he woke up at 3am with uncontrollable shaking and a fever of 102.5 so I took him to the ER instead. Guys with these kinds of injuries can't play around with things like temperatures. They ended up saying he had some sort of infection somewhere but couldn't pin point it. They gave him IV antibiotics and the best they could find was a little fluid in his lungs so they called it pneumonia and kept him overnight, sending him home with oral antibiotics the next day. His right ear surgery has been rescheduled for August 8th. They have full faith that once healed he will regain 80% of his hearing. While the right side is healing he will have a hearing aid for his left. Once its finished healing they will then do surgery on his left ear.
That round building is the CFI. the Fisher house where we stay is to the right.

Arm: Is completely healed and gaining back strength nicely!

Left Nub: He is doing well with his left prosthetic. They have him learning crutches which he says is REALLY hard.

Right Stump: Is almost healed completely its really taking its sweet ass time! graphed skin is no joke man its so delicate and can rip so easily. He also has another blue suture coming up in a spot so I know that one wont heal till that guy comes out. since he is so close to being healed up they went ahead and got him into a liner on that side and will be casting him for his prosthetic on Tuesday! He should have it by the end of the week!!! WE are so ecstatic about this! First time he will have 2 legs since Feb!

Meds/Psych: They are weening him off of his pain drugs slowly and to our surprise it hasn't been to terrible yet. Now he only has to take med's 3 times a day instead of 5. He still gets 3 diff eye drops 4 times a day tho along with some goop on his left suture. We have been seeing Dr. George together and Cory will start to see him on his own here soon, we talked about a few stuff  between ourselves that he thinks Dr. George can help him with mentally and emotional which makes me so proud. If you knew this man before you knew he didn't believe in talking to people for help. Id like to thank Dr. Wilson & Dr. Escamilla at Polytrauma for changing his mind of that. I will also start seeing Dr. Turner for one on ones myself. It is good to take advantage of these options we have while we can and get help now before we run into problems down the road. Better to be safe then sorry!

NY Trip: The trip was simply amazing and we learned so very much. The trip was also a lot of stuff jam packed into 5 days so we were very tired. I learned that traveling is really going to suck if you don't have help. We had to figure out how to pull/push our luggage while I am pushing him. Its so not fun and time consuming. Its also quiet difficult for him to get down the aisle to his seat. If we could afford it we would fly first class in the front every time it was such a huge difference when we got one of those seats on one of the planes back compared to seat 40. It takes a lot of energy to hop the seats or use his walker side ways. They do offer the aisle chair that is this tiny chair they roll you down in which barely fits by the way. So your the first one on and last one off. I am very nervous for future endeavors where we aren't with a group of wounded warriors because I know it wont be as easy as they made it for our trip. Thank you CFI, Wounded Warrior Project, and Rockaway NY for the memories we had a beautiful time!
Just couldn't resist taking a picture of that smile!
